Ocean Lakes DE Eli Harold

Eli Harold now hold somewhere in the range of twenty college offers.   It’s not a matter of ‘if’, but where he’ll go to college on scholarship.   While the list of offers is long, the list of favorites is narrowing, and narrowing fast.

I didn’t even have to ask the question.  Eli and I started talking and he was eager to tell me.

“There’s been a bit of change.  UVA is now my in my top spot,” Harold said without hesitation.

When asked about his top schools, UVA was the first to be mentioned, yet again.  In fact, Harold had to be pushed in order to name other schools on his short list.  He continued with Florida, UNC, Tennessee and Penn State.  “Penn State is real high up there,”  said the Ocean Lakes athlete.

“Virginia is my top choice.  I went Friday and had a sit down.  I really like coach London.  He’s a real guy.  We didn’t just talk about football.  We talked about life.  We talked about his life, we talked about my life, life after football and all that,” Eli said of his conversation with the coach.

Harold is going to play both wide receiver and defensive end this year, just like last year for the Ocean Lakes Dolphins.  Still, he feels that his future lies on the defensive side of the ball.   Colleges have been looking at Harold strictly as a D-end.

He’s not ready to commit to Virginia just yet, but he seems to be a lot closer to committing than he once was.

“I’ve said that I would wait it out until the Army game, but as of now, I really don’t know.   I don’t know,” said Harold.   That was the one thing that Eli was unsure of.

Harold was certain that his Dolphins would be competitive this season however.

“We’re going to be contenders no matter what.  We’re going to be the strongest team on the field every week.   We just train to be strong, fast….  We’re going to contend for the District, Region and State.   There’s some pretty strong teams out there, so there should be good competition at the Beach.  It’s always like that,” Eli said.

There will be a lot to look forward to with Eli Harold’s season and his recruitment as it continues to progress.   More offers are likely to come, but as of now it looks like Virginia will be tough to beat.
