The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is still days away, but two local seniors are contributing big time for the East team. Down in San Antonio, Kwontie Moore of Norfolk Christian and Eli Harold of Ocean Lakes are prepping for the last game of their high school career.

It’s hard to believe, but Harold is one of the smaller defensive ends at the game, but he’s showing off his skills in speed rushing and run defense.   Eli was specifically noted as being aggressive and successful in overwhelming the offensive linemen facing off against him.   Defensive linemen from the East squad were well represented in Rivals’ top picks from practice.

Linebacker Kwontie Moore was tabbed as a top performer by East head coach Robert Weiner in an article on 247 Sports. Weiner mentioned Moore as one of a group of linebackers that’s “really, really athletic.” Writer Steve Wilfong quoted the coach as saying: “In run, our guys are trying to get to the second level on offense to block them, and they’re already in a whole nother place and you can’t get to them.”

Both Eli Harold and Kwontie Moore are committed to the University of Virginia.   All three local players that made All-American game rosters from The 757 are University of Virginia commits.

The U.S. Army All-American Game will air on NBC (locally on WAVY-TV 10) this Sunday at 1 p.m.
