Bruton ATH Headed to NC Wesleyan
Bruton’s De’Arius Olvis is headed to North Carolina Wesleyan. His recruitment took longer than he had planned, but the end result was a good choice that suits him. Olvis made his visits, considered his options, then made up his mind. It doesn’t always happen on schedule.
Penn State Gets A Visit From Grafton Big Man
Grafton big man Jake Mazgajewski is still a bit of a secret. He arrived to the region as an Air Force kid last August and spent last year adjusting to the wide open offense run by Coach Jared Van Acker. At 6-6 255, Maz is a bit of a tweener, believe it or not. He can cover multiple positions, yet colleges are still trying to figure out how they’d like to use him.
Big Man Commits to Hokies
Virginia Tech got the big man they were targeting and a 757 guy to boot. The Hokies struck first this year and they bagged a foursome of 757 talent today leading into their annual Spring Game.
Travel Log: Scott Makes Spring Break College Tour
The best way to get the attention of college coaches is to go out and see them yourself. Being proactive is the key to kickstarting your recruitment. That’s just what Brody Scott did over Spring Break and now he’s on the radar for schools across the Mid-Atlantic.
Rutherford Picks A-B
York High School tight end/defensive end Daniel Rutherford is continuing a trend of local players headed to Alderson-Broaddus. The small Division II school with the startup football program has attracted droves of local athletes, and Rutherford is the latest. What drew him in?
Spearman Barnstorms Southern Schools on Spring Break
You know your parents love you when they’re willing to build Spring Break around your college football aspirations. Grafton’s Marcus Spearman (JR WR/CB 6-0 185) got a chance to see four out of state schools in a week and six colleges total in under ten days. York County School’s Spring Break is over. Now Marcus is well traveled and certainly experienced after taking a swing through the South.
Virginia Tech Visit In Santiago’s Future, ODU In The Mix
Grafton WR/DB Jesse Santiago had a stellar junior year. His football Clippers made it to the Division 4 State Semifinals. His basketball Clippers made it to the Group AA State Finals just a few weeks ago. Jesse starred on both teams. Santiago and his teammates were disappointed to come so close but fall short this year. It does hold promise for the future and for his recruitment.
Jamestown LB Enjoys Richmond Stop
The nice thing about nearby schools is that student-athletes can make their visits anytime. That’s what happened Wednesday when Jamestown High School linebacker Brody Scott paid a visit to the Spiders. Recruiting coach Wayne Lineburg invited Brody up and the mid-week visit showed the linebacker just what he needed to see.
York TE Brad Myers Makes His Pick
Tight ends can be the unsung heroes of the passing game. At York High School in 2011, the passing game was king. Quarterback Alex Johnston set a career passing yardage record last year, and the Falcons rolled their record to 11-0 before falling in the Region 1 Final. York scored almost 37 points a game in their wins. Now Myers is taking his game to college.
Warhill’s Colton Wilson Makes College Commitment
Warhill Football had its best season ever in 2011. A blend of young talent and well developed seniors got them to the playoffs. Defensive end/linebacker Colton Wilson and his twin brother Blake were part of the core of senior leadership for the Lions. Blake has decided not to play college football, but Colton, the larger of the two, has made his college choice.
