BTW’s Johnson Adds A Big First Offer!
This is the time of year where juniors are working hard for college scholarship offers. They wait for college coaches to come in. Sometimes there’s interest. If they’re lucky, there’s an offer. Rarely does a player wait and then have his first offer be the big catch. Today, Booker T. Washington WR/DB Rodney Johnson’s recruitment went from zero to 60.
BTW’s Simpson Picks Campbell
Booker T. Washington linebacker Colin Simpson has made his college call. After taking extra time to make sure of his decision, the Booker backer has selected Campbell. Pirates Move Away From 757 With 2012 Class
Recently, we’ve noted East Carolina’s increased efforts to attract players from Southeastern Virginia. Head Coach Ruffin McNeill inked three players from the 757 within the Class of 2011, marking a change in priority from his predecessor, Skip Holtz.
All-Eastern District Team 2011
There was one player that stood out among all others in the Eastern District. Mike Tyson of Lake Taylor High School won Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. It may be seen as a down year for the district, considering that only Norcom and Lake Taylor made the playoffs. There’s plenty of talent in the district though, as evidenced by the rise of Norview and the college commitments of Der’woun Greene to Virginia Tech, Marcus Haynes to Hampton, Cal Cook and Isaac White to Old Dominion and Darrius Jones to Richmond.
Cook Picks Monarchs
After a long recruiting process and a heady series of twelve offers from various institutions including schools from the MAC, and some of the best of Division I FCS football, Booker T. Lake Taylor, Norcom Wins May Mean Only Two ED Playoff Teams
It’s a down year for the Eastern District. Lake Taylor (6-1) cruised to an easy victory over Granby (2-6) on Friday night and I.C. Norcom’s (7-1) steady performance in knocking off Norview (4-4) has almost assured the Greyhounds of a playoff spot while virtually knocking the Pilots out of the playoff race.
