The votes are in for the All-Beach team. Congratulations to the players that were selected! The Offensive and Defensive players of the year should be no surprise. Eli Harold was the most heavily recruited player out of The 757 in the Class of 2012, and it looks like Offensive POY Bucky Hodges will be the most heavily recruited player out of The 757 in the Class of 2013. In the Beach District on Friday, only one game truly had playoff implications. If Green Run defeated Tallwood, they made the Division 5 playoffs as the #8 seed. If they lost, they needed Nansemond River to lose in order to hold onto that slot. Both Green Run and Nansemond River won, but the Stallions made the playoffs based on Power Ratings. Here’s the recap from last night’s games:

In the closing weeks of the season, the Beach District is breaking down into a group of teams headed to the playoffs and a group of teams playing for next year. This week’s games seem to pit everyone from group A against everyone from group B. The only swing game in the bunch seems to be Green Run vs. Landstown. Every other game looks to be an opportunity for one team to spoil another’s playoff bid.

Landstown’s opportunity to shake up the Beach District wasn’t fulfilled. Both Salem and Landstown came into the game with a 5-1 record. The big three at the Beach have been seen as Ocean Lakes, Bayside and Salem in no particular order. It was Landstown’s time to crash the party. They had already taken down Bayside. It was time to prove a point.

We’re now five games into the season for many Beach teams and that means that the playoff implications mount as the weeks go by. Yesterday, Salem solidified their stance, Landstown took a step backward and Cox breathed new life into their playoff hopes.

The Beach District played their regular schedule of five games last night as a rescheduled date of games missed due to the arrival of Hurricane Irene. We know that Bayside survived a late rally by First Colonial. Here’s how the rest of the games played out.

It sounds weird, but here we are with a full slate of games in the Beach District on Tuesday night. These games are the games from the first week of the season where Hurricane Irene came in and blew out the schedule. Landstown is perhaps the only beneficiary since they had their bye scheduled for the opening week of the season and now get it as a break in the middle of three games in nine days. That keeps Landstown on schedule where everyone is working on short rest.

Welcome to the start of Hurricane Irene implications, Beach District Football fans. The Beach gets their games going tomorrow night, then plays again on Tuesday, then plays again next Saturday. So much football, so little time. Let’s look at tomorrow night’s schedule:

Cox had their opportunity to pull an upset, but when the Dolphins held the Falcons for four downs inside their own 5 yard line late in the 3rd quarter, the momentum quickly changed. Cox also suffered a huge blow when they fumbled the ball inside their own 10 yard line. On the next play…

Enjoy these Friday night games… these are the last in the Beach District until the end of the month. Friday night’s games are on as scheduled. Beyond this week, we’re getting into a flurry of games every five days, all because of rescheduling due to Hurricane Irene. If you like football (and why are you here if you don’t….?), then you’re going to love the next 22 days in the Beach District.
