Ocean Lakes defensive tackle Demetri McGill added his fifth college scholarship offer today. Coach Chris Scott was on the road, but that didn’t slow down the interest in his lineman. The latest offer gives Demetri his first BCS offer, which just may up the ante on his recruitment.

ODU To Make C-USA Leap
The official press conference is at 2:30 Eastern Daylight Time, but ODUSports.com has already announced that the Monarchs are headed to Conference USA. It was a move that’s been mulled for weeks going into months. Now a leap to Division I FBS football is going to be a reality.

The rich just get richer. Blue chip prospects Andrew Brown and Kwamane Bowens added new scholarship offers on Thursday. The Indian River lineman and Salem wide receiver picked up BCS offers from two different schools. Both were significant. Both add to the growing total of college options for each player.

Green Run fought hard to get into the playoffs last year, and held their own in the Beach District. Their young team had a strong showing against Hampton in the opening round and now they’re looking to grow further. The youngsters are growing up fast. Richardson To Start His Clock In New England
Raysean Richardson really began turning heads as a Junior linebacker for Oscar F. Smith High School in the fall of 2009. That enormously talented team started the season hosting Venice High School of Florida on national TV on ESPNU. Seniors on that team included top QB Phillips Sims (signed with Alabama, soon to be Virginia), another linebacker standout in Jeremy Majette (Old Dominion) and the electrifying wide receiver in Charlie Ricks (Norfolk State). Unfortunately, none of those three remains at the original school of choice.

Big Man Brantley Gunning For Big Offers
We’re seeing it more and more recently, but it’s still not often that you hear about a sophomore pulling in big time college interest. Then again, it’s not often that you hear about high school sophomores that are this big. Walter Brantley of Phoebus High School is already 6-3 and tipping the scales at 330 pounds. His combination of size, footwork and agility is turning the heads of college coaches. That’s going to happen more frequently over the rest of this year.
