McClease Picks Up Fourth Offer

($$) Yet another Oscar Smith Tiger has a recruitment that’s burning brightly. Running back DeShawn McClease is coming into his junior season, and college coaches have taken notice. McClease was the lead back for the Tigers last year after the departure of J.C. Coleman to Virginia Tech. Coleman is now starring for the Hokies. McClease is not far away from figuring out where his skills will take him in college.

Lynch Commits to VSU

Lake Taylor sends yet another one its seniors on to play college ball. The Division 5 State Champion Titans are talent rich, and linebacker Brandon Lynch has now committed to play his college ball at Virginia State.

Cannon Commits For College

Kecoughtan running back Trenton Cannon was one of the region’s most productive running backs in 2012. He finished the ten game regular season with 1270 yards on 188 carries with 15 touchdowns. He was selected All-District, All-Region, and All-757.

Rising senior Terrence Ricks has been a utility man for the Western Branch Bruins. This week, he’s picked up two more college scholarship offers, and like his high school coaches, the colleges offering don’t agree on where they want to put him.

The recruitment of Tallwood safety Christian Byrum continues to be hot. Byrum came into the week with offers from Wisconsin, NC State, Charlotte, Hampton University, East Carolina, Old Dominion and NC Central. That’s quite an assortment of schools. This week’s offers only add to the variety.

($$) It should be no surprise that lineman Ricky Walker continues to pick up scholarship offers. After all, Ricky’s easily one of the top 5 best players in the region for the 2014 class, and linemen are always a need for college coaches looking for talent. The 757 is best known for skill guys, blessed with speed and agility. Walker happens to be a big man with good agility, who can get it done with his strength, hands, and feet.
