Points To Consider: ODU Stays or C-USA?
The Atlantic 10 Conference has officially welcomed the Rams of Virginia Commonwealth University. This ends about seven weeks of rumors that VCU would abandon the Virginia-centric Colonial Athletic Association. The rumors were accurate only to a degree. George Mason was first listed as possibly joining. However, the A-10 elected to only add two members, VCU and Butler. Now more than ever, attention turns to ODU.
Brown and Bowens Add Offers
The rich just get richer. Blue chip prospects Andrew Brown and Kwamane Bowens added new scholarship offers on Thursday. The Indian River lineman and Salem wide receiver picked up BCS offers from two different schools. Both were significant. Both add to the growing total of college options for each player.
BTW’s Johnson Adds A Big First Offer!
This is the time of year where juniors are working hard for college scholarship offers. They wait for college coaches to come in. Sometimes there’s interest. If they’re lucky, there’s an offer. Rarely does a player wait and then have his first offer be the big catch. Today, Booker T. Washington WR/DB Rodney Johnson’s recruitment went from zero to 60.
Marriner Recruitment Picking Up
Western Branch running back Josh Marriner is on the cusp of a breakout. The Bruin added another offer on Tuesday, and recruiting interest is picking up. He was under the radar after breaking his leg in the first game of his sophomore season and after his team failed to make the playoffs in 2011. Still the quiet contributor chipped in 1362 yards in ten games last year. He’s looking to up the ante in the 2012 campaign, and he’s working hard to make it a good year.
Penn State Gets A Visit From Grafton Big Man
Grafton big man Jake Mazgajewski is still a bit of a secret. He arrived to the region as an Air Force kid last August and spent last year adjusting to the wide open offense run by Coach Jared Van Acker. At 6-6 255, Maz is a bit of a tweener, believe it or not. He can cover multiple positions, yet colleges are still trying to figure out how they’d like to use him.
Kamara Adds Offer #10
There’s a HOT 2014 class in The 757 that’s reeling in offers left and right. Lake Taylor wide receiver Jamil Kamara landed his tenth scholarship offer from a school that hasn’t been active in the region for a while.
The “U” Sows Seeds With The 757 Sophomore Class
In the last 24 hours, the University of Miami has offered three local sophomores, making a statement that the Hurricanes are back in The 757 and looking for talent.
Soph WR Kamara Lands Illinois Offer
Assistant Coach Chris Beatty has turned his focus to The 757 again, and there’s another local recruit who’s received an offer from the Illini. This time, it’s Lake Taylor wideout Jamil Kamara. Jamil has transferred from Princess Anne to Lake Taylor in the offseason, giving the Titans another weapon in their battle to win Division 5. Kamara’s eighth scholarship offer shows that his stock is rising… and he’s only a sophomore!
Spearman Barnstorms Southern Schools on Spring Break
You know your parents love you when they’re willing to build Spring Break around your college football aspirations. Grafton’s Marcus Spearman (JR WR/CB 6-0 185) got a chance to see four out of state schools in a week and six colleges total in under ten days. York County School’s Spring Break is over. Now Marcus is well traveled and certainly experienced after taking a swing through the South.
Phoebus Lineman On The Rise
Man-child Harry Lewis is on the rise. The Phoebus freshman is closing in on college ready size and he still has three years of high school ball left to play. Lewis is now out working on getting noticed in camp and combine season.
